Lights, camera, HyperCOG!

Insight Media film crew visits Spain to tell the story of how HyperCOG is helping to digitise European process industries

HyperCOG partners gathered in Spain for two days in June to film the project’s final film, a 15-minute documentary focusing on its results and their implementation on the ground at the Sidenor steel works at Basuri, near San Sebastian.

An Insight Media film crew coordinated the filming, with individual partners being interviewed about their role in the project, the work they have done and the results that have been delivered.

The film, which will also show some of the HyperCOG technology in action, will provide a fascinating glimpse into the project’s outcomes and the benefits they deliver as well as their commercial viability in the demonstration use case industries – steel, cement and chemicals. The film also outlines this potential in other industries, given the transferability of the new technology.

One important aspect of this story that the film will also demonstrate is the fact that even though HyperCOG technology automates many industrial processes, the project has also developed valuable strategies for training and re-skilling human resources. The project is not looking to replace people with AI automation but enable workers to work differently and more efficiently is a key message.

“We had a very productive couple of days in Northern Spain,” says Insight Media MD William Davis, who was part of the crew on location and is directing the documentary. “The partners who took part thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of explaining very complicated concepts to camera and all did a fine job.

“We are now looking to explain how HyperCOG has succeeded in demonstrating how cyber-physical systems and data analytics can be used to drive the green transformation within the European process industry, that will quickly improve efficiency and competitiveness by harnessing the power of data.

“It is a good story to tell, and I hope the film will clearly show how other industries can use such technology in the very near future.”
